The DHI-supported Computer Aided River Management (CARM) project in Australia featured prominently at the recent Engineering Excellence Awards, Sydney Division – hosted by the Institution of Engineers Australia.

CARM was shortlisted for two categories:

  • Software and Embedded Systems – in which it received a commendation
  • Engineering for Regional Communities – which it won

Most importantly, CARM was awarded the prestigious Bradfield Award, which is selected from winners of all categories of the Sydney Division Excellence Awards. This award recognises an accomplishment of exceptional engineering merit, which makes a major contribution to the community.

These awards follow a top honour awarded to CARM recently at the Australian Water Association’s 2012 Water Awards for New South Wales (NSW), in the Innovation and Infrastructure category.

The CARM project is funded by Water for Rivers and is being executed by the NSW State Water Corporation. DHI and water metering contractor – Comdain – are major project partners. Its framework is built around our MIKE CUSTOMISED by DHI Decision Support System framework.

CARM involves a series of initiatives on the Murrumbidgee River to make it one of the world’s most efficient and best managed working river systems. The AUD 65 million project is set to bring water savings and improved service to irrigators and other water users along the Murrumbidgee River system.
