Turkey is a large country with a rapidly growing economy. The country is facing plenty of difficult challenges in water environments. At the same time, a lot of interesting water-related research is being conducted at Turkish universities, which are also educating many talented water professionals. Turkish universities in general and ODTÜ in particular are highly respected globally and leading in the region.

Serdar SürerMoreover, Turkey is a bridge between the rest of Europe and some large countries in the Middle East and Asia – many of which are also facing difficult challenges in water environments. For these reasons, we’ve been planning an office in Turkey for several years. ODTÜ Teknokent, where our physical office is now located, is one of the most prestigious and well managed Science Parks in Turkey. This location provides us with an excellent platform for collaboration with the university – mainly aiming at the adaptation of our MIKE by DHI products to local needs.

Serdar Sürer has accepted the position of Managing Director of DHI Türkiye. Until recently, Serdar was the owner and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of HidroSaf – one of our respected Turkish partners and software agents. Serdar brings with him a couple of young, but already experienced engineers, who will form the nucleus of our new establishment in Turkey.

Asked about the ambitions of DHI Türkiye, Serdar says: “We plan to expand DHI’s activities in Turkey with more courses, improved support for our MIKE users and more partnerships with Turkish consultants on projects in the water and environment sectors. As an independent, not-for-profit, and knowledge-based organisation, we look forward to contributing towards solving the toughest challenges in water environments together with the best Turkish experts.”
