Successful FEFLOW workshop in Denver

On 8 May 2014, DHI United States and DHI Germany jointly offered the workshop ‘State-of-the-Art Groundwater Modelling for Water Resources Management and Well-Field Operation’.

On 8 May 2014, DHI United States and DHI Germany jointly offered the workshop ‘State-of-the-Art Groundwater Modelling for Water Resources Management and Well-Field Operation’. It was conducted in downtown Denver (United States) following the National Ground Water Association’s (NGWA) 2014 Groundwater Summit.

Hosted by Bob Prucha from our Denver office, the one-day event attracted 50 attendees. Volker Clausnitzer (Director, MIKE by DHI Germany) and Anna Zabel (Senior Modeller, DHI) presented key features of FEFLOW 6.2 during the morning session. A particular highlight was the software’s groundwater-age computation capability, which gives it unmatched efficiency in capture-zone delineation and quantification. The attendees provided lively feedback and the session concluded with a preview of ongoing development efforts.

The afternoon was dedicated to eight individual case studies illustrating advanced FEEFLOW use, including:

  • unsaturated flow in the context of mining
  • large-scale preferential flow in contamination studies
  • density-affected flow
  • current research on integrated modelling

We look forward to new collaborations after this successful workshop.
