Webinar – Persuasive principles for online training on EU chemical regulation

Dr Margrethe Winther-Nielsen (Head of Innovation) and Ilaria de Rosa Carstensen will present a webinar on 29 January 2013 from 13:00 to 14:00 GMT (14:00 to 15:00 CET).

Dr Margrethe Winther-Nielsen (Head of Innovation) and Ilaria de Rosa Carstensen will present a webinar on 29 January 2013 from 13:00 to 14:00 GMT (14:00 to 15:00 CET). It will focus on:

  • working with persuasion
  • motivating the trainee in a context where a legal obligation sets the agenda
  • applying the new GLO/PLOTMaker tool for the creation of online training to develop exposure scenarios for chemical mixtures

The formulating industry has to deliver information on the safe use of their products according to European Union (EU) regulations. The main challenges include:

  • meeting the requirement of gathering and delivering information for several chemicals
  • learning how to work with the information in an operational manner

There are several ways in which we assist companies that are working with chemicals. We develop persuasive courses and offer training in the EU's chemical legislation REACH. We are also running a case study for EuroPLOT – an EU-financed project.

During the case study, we will develop various resources. These will help vocational learners understand regulations for exposure scenarios for chemical handling. Trainees are highly encouraged to learn how to comply with these regulations.

We are also contributing in the development of an online course. This is meant for formulating industry employees, in need of training in handling REACH-related exposure scenarios. As part of this, we are presenting a webinar on EU’s chemical regulation.

Developed within the EuroPLOT project, the new version of the GLO/PLOTMaker tool has an enhanced capability for producing learning objects based on persuasive principles. It allows the teacher to create persuasive learning elements in multiple ways to engage the learner or trainee.
