Danish Clean Water products become BPR compliant with our help

Danish Clean Water A/S (DCW) was in need of consultation to investigate its legal compliance with the forthcoming Biocidal Products Regulation (BPR).

Danish Clean Water A/S (DCW) was in need of consultation to investigate its legal compliance with the forthcoming Biocidal Products Regulation (BPR). With our global knowledge and expertise in product safety, we have sorted out all such legal challenges for DCW.

DCW produces in-situ disinfectant generators providing the food industry and others with a cost efficient disinfection solution.

In the European Union (EU), biocidal products for disinfection use are regulated by the Biocidal Products Directive (BPD). Currently DCW’s products are not within the scope of the BPD and no legal compliance has been required so far.

However, the new regulation – the BPR – will come into force in September 2013, effectively replacing the BPD . The BPR has extended its scope to include disinfectants generated in-situ. Thus, DCW’s in-situ disinfectant generators will be subject to the legal requirements of the BPR in the future. This compliance will be a mandatory part of any authorisation procedure.

DCW has been receiving a growing number of questions from clients and partners about the importance of the new BPR for DCW’s products. We brought our product safety expertise to the table and sorted out all the future legal obligations of DCW, related to the BPR. In addition, we also produced an expert statement document relating DCW’s products to the requirements of the BPR.

What did the client gain?
DCW has been able to use the expert statement to inform partners and clients that they are in control of their regulatory challenges through their cooperation with us. They have thus strengthened their relations with their associates. More importantly, they have sent out a strong message that their products and client solutions are compliant with forthcoming EU law.
